Ninth Annual NCPS Members' Photography Exhibition

Conditions for Entry
The Ninth Annual Members' Photography Exhibition is open to members of the North County Photographic Society. Membership dues must be current as of October 1, 2004. Photographic work must be that of the entrant. Processing, printing, and mounting may be done commercially. Group work will not be accepted.
A maximum of two entries, all classes combined, may be submitted per entrant. Work previously shown at NCPS exhibits is ineligible. Work must be in good taste and suitable for family viewing as determined by the Exhibition Committee.
Entrants must do one of the following:
- Complete and mail in the attached entry form. If you mail the form in, place it in an envelope to mail. It must be received no later than October 11, 2004. No late registrations will be accepted.
- Hand deliver the attached entry form to Jeff Brosbe or Carrie Barton at a NCPS meeting no later than September 22, 2004. No late registrations will be accepted.
- Email your registration (be sure to include ALL the information on the attached entry form) to ouraydog@cox.net. If you email your entry and do not receive a confirmation reply at once, you must assume that your email did not come through. DO NOT WAIT TO SUBMIT VIA EMAIL UNTIL THE LAST MOMENT. Email registration must be received by October 11, 2004. No late registrations will be accepted!
Entries that do not adhere to the display requirements will be disqualified. Each piece must be mounted, framed, and covered by plexi or glass. Because of space limitations, the overall size of the framed image must be no greater than 19" x 23" or smaller than 4" x 5" including the frame. Measurements will be made from the rear, outside edges of the frame. All work must have a wire on back for hanging and be framed in a clean and secure fashion.
Your entries must be hand delivered at the NCPS meeting on October 27, 2004 before 7 p.m. Each entry must have an identification tag taped to the upper left hand corner of the back containing the following information:
- Artist's name
- Address
- Phone number
- Title of image
- Category entered
- "NFS" (not for sale), or price of image
You may have someone deliver your entries.
The exhibition is not a juried show, but the images entered will be judged for ribbons by a panel of experts in the art of photography.
Each print will be viewed on its own merit and given a point value. The highest scoring images will then be judged against each other for award consideration. Impact, Composition, Technical Quality, and Workmanship are the four main criteria upon which the image is judged. The judges have the right to consider other aspect in making their decision.
The decision of the judges is final.
All images must be picked up at the Solana Beach City Hall on Monday, December 6, 2004, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Images not picked up at this time become the property of The North County Photographic Society and will be disposed of promptly. You may arrange to have someone pick up your images.
Images will be considered for sale at the price indicated on the registration form. Images not for sale must be marked "NFS" on the registration form. Listing a selling price on the registration form authorizes the NCPS to give your phone number to interested buyers. All sales will be the artist's own responsibility. No work may be removed from the exhibition prior to the stated pick up time.
Prints may be traditional photographic images or may be digital prints.
Neither the City of Solana Beach nor the North County Photographic Society will be responsible for any loss or damage of any kind. Model releases are the artist's responsibility.

- Category 1 - Color, Scenic (landscapes, urbanscapes, seascapes)
- Category 2 - Color, Nature (flora or fauna as principal subject)
- Category 3 - Color, People (includes formal portraits)
- Category 4 - Color, Other
Any image entered in Category 1, 2, 3, or 4 must be an original, single exposure color print.
- Category 5 - Black & White, Nature (All scenic images, including flora or fauna)
- Category 6 - Black & White, People (includes formal portraits)
- Category 7 - Black & White, Other
Any image entered in Category 5, 6, or 7 must be an original, single exposure print. Sepia or other toning is acceptable.
- Category 8 - Manipulations & Alternative Processes
An image entered in category 8 may be any significantly manipulated image or any of the following: Polaroid transfers or manipulations, compositing, collage, montage, multiple exposures, hand colored images, photographically based digital art, or any other alternative processes that do not fit into any of the other categories.
Prints may be traditional photographic prints or digitally produced prints.
First, Second, and Third Place ribbons will be awarded in each of the 8 categories.
A "Best of Color" will be awarded from the First Place Winners in Categories 1, 2, 3, and 4.
A "Best of Black & White" will be awarded from the First Place winners in Categories 5, 6, and 7.
A "Best of Show" ribbon will be also be awarded.
An indeterminate number of honorable mention ribbons will be awarded at the judges' discretion.
A "Viewer's Choice" ribbon will be selected by ballot during the exhibition's reception on November 12th.
The Judges have the right to award fewer ribbons in a category or combine categories if the number of entries in any given category warrants such an action.
- October 11, 2004 - Deadline for registration of images to be received
- October 20, 2004 - Deadline for jpegs to be sent to NCPS webmaster.
- October 27, 2004 - Deliver images to the NCPS meeting by 7 pm.
- November 1, 2004 - Show opens.
- November 12, 2004 - Reception from 5 pm to 7:30 pm
- December 6, 2004 - Pick up images between 10 am and 4 pm.
