Postcard Competition: The new NCPS postcard is done! A big round of applause to Hugh Cox, who organized this effort from start to finish. And special thanks to our juror, Lee Peterson. Donna Cosentino will have an exhibition, along with Tom Millea, at the Palomar College Boehm Gallery, from January 18th through February 19th, 2005.

Carolyn Taylor and Tom O Scott will have their work showing at the Ordover Gallery, from January 12 through February 12. The Show features the work of Annaliese Cassarino and Melissa Teller, and in addition to Carolyn's and Tom's work, also has images from John Clark, Scott Graham, and Nicolas Roberti. Reception Thursday, Jan. 20, from 6 to 8 pm.

Jeff Brosbe's solo show, "Urbanscapes," is at the San Diego Art Institute. His work is also at the ADORN Gallery on 2400 Kettner Blvd., Studio 105, until the end of December.

Tom O Scott won first place in photojournalism for "Lettuce Workers" at the first annual Black and White Spider Awards, held by the International Photography Copyright Organization. He was also nominated in the Abstract and Nature categories, and for Photographer of the Year. The winning images will be published in Black and White Photography magazine, as well as the Spider Awards 2005 Calendar.

Sharon Anthony will have her work from Oaxaca and Chiapas on display at Fiesta Imports from December 2 through January 15, with an artist reception on Thursday, Dec. 2, 4 to 7 pm. Fiesta Imports is at 7720-E El Camino Real, La Costa, 760-942-8842.

9th Annual Member Show: Solana Beach City Hall - November 1, 2004 through December 6, 2004. Viewing hours: Mon. - Thurs., 7:30am-5:30pm, and open every other Fri. 8:00am-5:00pm. This is probably our best show ever! And, this is the first time we've been able to feature our show on the web. Congrats also to Patricia Stevens, whose Calla Lilly won the Viewer's Choice Award this year. For info. on purchasing any of the member show images, please contact Carrie Barton. Cathy Scholl will have 2 of her images in the upcoming Ordover Gallery show, opening Wed. Oct. 20. There's an artist reception on Thurs., Oct. 21.

Oct. 5 - Carrie Barton has added a dynamite new portfolio to her gallery -- Grizzly Bears.

Sept 13 - Carrie Barton has added some images from Imperial Dunes to her Landscape & Nature portfolio.

Sept 12 - Dan Nougier has just set up a new gallery with three portfolios - Carlsbad & Oceanside, Death Valley, and New Mexico & Arizona.

Sept 6 - Sharon Anthony has some stunning images of the birds of Batiquitos Lagoon. Sharon's Gallery includes pictures of the bulletin boards she made for the Nature Center at the Lagoon. Also, Carrie Barton has just added some wonderful new images to her gallery, in the Architecture, Landscape, and Abstract portfolios.

Sept 4 - Jim Cline has added his name to our roster of members who have galleries or links to external galleries on our site.

Sept. 10 - Jeff Brosbe's image, "Klong Windows" has won the Juror's Choice award at the recent Regional Artists Exhibition at the San Diego Art Institute. Reception on Friday, Sept. 17, 6 to 8 pm.

September 1 - Cathy Scholl just returned from the Super Outdoor Photo Weekend, held in Gig Harbor, WA. At the end of the weekend the PhotoFocus Talent Search Contest awarded prizes based on the work that was shown in private critique and in a group slide show, where each participant showed 3 images. Cathy won 2nd place!

August 28 - Garrie Lynn Rhodes posted 42 images in her new gallery on our site.

August 15 - Lee Peterson has started a new project on the piers of San Diego County. You can check out his work here.

August 6 - Jeff Brosbe has had two of his images accepted into the 13th Annual Juried Exhibition at the Atheneum Museum & Arts Library, 1008 Wall St. in La Jolla. The reception is Friday, Aug. 6th, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.

July 27 - "Art Night", featuring Cathy Scholl, the NCPS member with all those astounding photos of India that won so many prizes at the Fair, along with several other photographers. The reception is Tuesday, July 27, from 6 to 8 pm, at the Hill Street Cafe & Gallery, 524 S. Coast Highway, Oceanside. The show will be there through October.

August 7, Bernardo Winery Photo Shoot. Regular camera gear this time, but disposables are OK, of course! See the Photo Shoot forum for more details.

July 23 - August 21: Sand Vision: Tom O Scott had a very successful show at the Photographer's Gallery in Escondido. If you missed the show, you can see all the exhibited works at Tom O Scott's site here.

July 24 - Michael Seewald is our newest "gallery owner". We now have 14 member galleries.

July 24 - "Escapes", featuring our own Jim Respess and 10 other artists. The invitational exhibition is from July 16th through July 30th, from 11 am to 4 pm, at the Spanish Village Art Center in Balboa Park. The Reception is on July 24th, from 4:30 to 7 pm. More information here.

July 10, Scavenger Hunt! - 26 photographers showed up for this outstanding event, organized by Carolyn Taylor, Carrie Barton, Sylvia Pauloo-Taylor, Bob Harrington, and Craig Grow. In the morning, we roamed the beaches and street of Oceanside, equipped only with our throwaway $2.59 cameras. Immediately afterward, the good people of Pixel Photo in Encinitas developed all 29 rolls. At 5 pm, we congregated at Carrie and Bill Barton's house, where we put our best shots in each category on big placards. Everyone voted for their favorites in each category, and the results are here.

July 10: Kat Larsen is our newest "gallery owner." She has contributed almost 50 beautiful photos in 6 different portfolios. You can see her unique work in her new gallery. Also, she has added 10 photos to the Ensenada Photo Shoot Gallery.

June 28: Jeff Brosbe's group show opens at the La Jolla Art Association Gallery, 7917 Girard Ave., La Jolla. The show will run through July 11.

June 26: Patricia Stevens will have her first Photo Exhibition in support of the Coronado Playhouse Free Summer Shakespeare Festival. The Exhibition is Saturday, June 26 from 11am - 6:30pm and Sundy, June 27 11am to 6pm. A metal and stone sculptor, a painter and a soprano will also be participating. More details . . .

June 22 - Final stats for the San Diego Fair: Members with accepted images: 35 . . . Members winning awards (1st through 4th): 7 . . . Best of Division awards: 1 . . . First Place awards: 4 . . . Second Place awards: 5 . . . Fourth Place awards: 2 . . . Honorable Mentions: 35 . . . We have a page with the final results as well as the NCPS 2004 SD Fair Gallery showing almost 70 works from our members.

June 22: Ned & Sara Badertscher have started a new gallery. Take a look!

June 17: Artist Reception at Ordover Gallery for a group show featuring Abe Ordover, Tom O Scott, and Art Wolfe. 6 to 8 pm.

June 12: James Sanders is our newest gallery participant. He's added some beautiful images in two portfolios: Ensenada and Lake Havasu. Jim Respess has just added some new images to his gallery. Doug Burgess has just added a new portfolio, Manette to his gallery.

May 22: Bolsa Chica Seven members, led by Bob Harrington and Sharon Anthony, led the latest photo shoot at Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, where they were treated to displays of terns, willet, marbled godwit, curlew, egret, herons and others.

May 15: Garrie Rhodes has works hanging at the Boehm Gallery at Palomar College in San Marcos, and at the Emerald Plaza Hotel in San Diego, along with fellow NCPS member, Kim Horner.

May 15: Tom O Scott's work, "Campfire" was accepted into the 2004 juried Fine Art Photography Exhibition in Ft. Collins, CO. He also has 3 works hanging at Savory Restaurant in Encinitas. Doug Burgess has just added a new portfolio to his Gallery - Ensenada. Finally, Tom O Scott has added a new portfolio to his gallery - Oceano Dunes.

May 12: Mike McMahon has just added some new photos to the San Juan Capistrano Photo Shoot Gallery.

May 10: Nine members, led by Jim Cline, enjoyed a visit to Ensenada on May 1 and 2. We circled home through the wine country and reentered at Tecate. Now we've got lots of images to sort out before our sharing get-together next month. A duplicate trip is planned for May 8 and 9, so watch the web site for results.

April 29: Barbara Swanson and Tom O Scott have added images to the Huntington photo shoot gallery.

April 25: The first photos from our shoot at The Huntington are in, contributed by photo shoot leader, Bob Cameron. Five of us made the trek to this incredible place. Keep your eyes peeled for more contributions from this shoot. Also, Barbara Swanson has added some new photos to the Balboa Park at Dusk photo shoot gallery.

April 12: Sally Burgess has added some new photos from China to her Gallery.

April 10: Mike McMahon has just added some new photos to the San Juan Capistrano Photo Shoot Gallery.

April 8: New Portfolios! Patricia Stevens has added two new portfolios to her gallery - Sand Paintings and Children. Tom O Scott has added a new portfolio to his gallery - Mono Lake.

April 2: Patricia Stevens has added a wonderful new gallery with dozens of images. Also, I've added a link to information about the upcoming San Diego County Fair in the "What's New" box at the top right of this page.

March 28: Balboa Park At Dusk: Barbara Swanson led 8 NCPS members on a great shoot during the "golden hour". March 27: New members Doug and Sally Burgess have just started their gallery on our site.

March 20: Ken Rockwell has added his gallery to our Member Gallery page.

March 20: Darlene Ashley and Chuck Bryant, along with 16 other artists, will be exhibiting their work through April 20 at the Archives of Escondido Gallery, 431 N. Escondido Blvd.

March 14: Carolyn Taylor has just posted some new images to the Bumann Ranch Photo Shoot Gallery. March 8: Hugh Cox and Carrie Barton have posted some great images to the Bumann Ranch Photo Shoot Gallery.

March 1 - March 26: Tom O Scott will have a solo show at the Encinitas City Hall. You can see a preview of the works on display on his site.

1/25/2004 - Site Redesign: As you can see, our site has been redesigned. One of our goals is to get more participation from our membership, and to make this site a useful tool. In that light, please contribute your images, gallery openings, and other news of interest to our membership. Send all information to Tom Scott. Also, please look at this page for information on photo submissions.

1/15/2004 - Jim Respess wins award at the International Digital Art Print Show at the Cork Gallery in New York. His work "The Ascension of Miles Archer" won an honorable mention, and two more works, "Embrace Me" and "Souvenir of Mexico" were accepted into the show.

12/15/2003 - The 8th Annual Member's Show was a great success! With 93 images from 50 members, this quality of the work this year surpassed anything we have seen. More information here.
